After reading and discussing John Marsden's book Prayer for the twenty-first century, HB 19 decided to create our own poems with a similar message. Look out for this workshop next week during our Poetry Cafe sessions. Happy reading!
May the dead always sleep Along with our fears. May couples stay together as a bonded pair. May the children laugh giggle and play. May the sun shine another day. May the world love as one. May the soldiers put down their guns May the stars shine bright in the sky May we watch with happiness as days go by
What is a million? Is it the amount of times you’ve patted a cat, or the amount of times you’ve sat on a mat, The amount of times you roll in the grass, Or how many times you’ve stepped on some glass,
Whats a million? Is it the amount of times you’ve been chased by a dog, Or the amount of times you’ve tripped on a log, The amount of times you’ve had a hug, Or the amount of times you’ve drunk out of a mug, That is a million.
Whats a million? Is it the amount of times you’ve gone to the mall, Or the amount of times you’ve kicked the wall, Is it the amount of times you’ve screamed for one direction, or the amount of times you’ve said mum, thats perfection!,
Whats a million? The amount of times you’ve yelled at your Mum, Or the amount of times you’ve screamed at the sun, Is it the amount of times you’ve sneezed, Or all the times you’ve eaten cheese?
A prayer for the 21st century
ReplyDeleteMay the world in peace and normality continue to flow. Peace
May nature never release it’s DNA code. Nature
May the sky never darken trough smoke and through fumes. Sky
May the forests ever blossom in beautiful plumes. forest
May science advance beyond the electric car. science
May space exploration reach further then mars. exploration
May racism expire until whats left is ash. racism
May guns never fire, may sword never clash. Battle.
May treaties have no loopholes. Treaties.
May flags remain on their poles. flags
May the bond that hold nations never snap in two.
May good word and fortune never fall onto you.
