We are currently reading the shared novel "Skeleton Creek" by Patrick Carman. The two lead characters are Ryan and Sarah. Ryan tells his version of events by writing a journal and Sarah explains her role via a series of videos. Check out the first video linked below - see if you can answer the set questions for pages 1-17 of the novel also. Happy viewing!
What two reasons does Ryan give for keeping his journal?
Why does Ryan say Skeleton Creek is the wrong place for someone like him to grow up?
Why must Ryan keep his journal hidden?
What was the original name of the town?

Exceptional Explanations!
"The Other Group" writing team have constructed this explanation of "What makes talk?" We used the Level 3 exemplar to help us generate some great ideas.
Explanation on Talk – What
makes talk?
Talk is how we communicate. Talk is when we have a thought we put into
sound. Sometimes we communicate with our
voice but we can also communicate with others by signing, lip reading, gestures
and technology (computer based programmes).
When we talk we need a voice box, lungs,
tongue, lips and teeth. We use our lungs
so we can breath and we use the tongue to shape the words we want to say. Also we didn’t have lips or teeth we wouldn’t
be able to talk clearly. When we talk
air passes through our voice box and makes our vocal chords stretch tight. No one in the world has the same voice as
each other. As most people know the most
important feature is the voice box and the lungs.
There are many situations where we need to
talk. For example, if you could not talk
it would be hard to get a job. For
running and operating a business talk is vital.
Without it you could not discuss plans with clients, there would be no meetings or marketing of
your products. It would be hard to
communicate with each other.
We use talk in everyday life. There are many languages that people speak
and use to communicate. Next time you
have a conversation with someone think carefully about the vital body parts
used in this process.
